Should we use RICE on injuries?

I have just finished reading an article that looks into studies to determine if the old adage of using the RICE method (REST, ICE, COMPRESSION, ELEVATION) is still relevant today for soft tissue injuries.

Should we RICE injuries?

 

And the conclusion?  It appears that ice and rest may delay healing instead of helping.
