Michelle from Jeroki was delighted to provide first aid training for the trainers at Maribyrnong Park Football Club, MPFC.
The first aid course delivered on the evening was HLTAID002 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support. They were a fantastic group to teach who were eager to ensure their skills were up to date. In this course they were able to show they were competent in providing CPR to adults, children and babies. They are also now skilled in using a defib (AED) machine and know where to locate this at their home ground. The course covered how to treat and manage various trauma injuries such as sprains and strains, broken bones, dental injuries and blood noses. It also covered how to recognise and treat various medical conditions, such as heart attacks, cardiac arrests, strokes and diabetic emergencies.
The evening then finished with coverage of the AFL’s concussion management guidelines. We discussed recognition of concussion using the sports concussion assessment tool. We then discussed how to treat concussions and head injuries. And finally we reviewed the AFL’s policy on players returning to training and play.
I would like to thank Sue for organising the first aid training for the trainers of Maribyrnong Park Football club, she was a delight to liaise with. The evening was well organised and ran efficiently.
Thanks everyone.
